2011 AFL Educator’s Conference
Posted 2011-Sep-23

The Alberta Federation of Labour (AFL) offers an annual conference to enhance and improve the skills, abilities and confidence of labour educators.

The conference also provides a forum for networking.  This year, the Education Committee of the AFL is offering refresher courses for labour facilitators to help keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date.  The courses are open to trade union activists, social partners and community activists with facilitator experience in Alberta and the Prairie Region.

Amanda Freistadt, from the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) with the assistance of Nancy Furlong, Secretary Treasurer of the AFL, will work with facilitators to identify and deal with problems that arise during facilitation and give participants an opportunity to discuss issues more in depth.  There will also be a short review of the standards of popular education.
