Annual Women’s Memorial March for Murdered and Missing Women – February 14
Posted 2012-Feb-13

In January 1991, a woman was murdered on Powell Street on the Downtown Eastside.  Her name is not spoken today out of respect for the wishes of her family.

Many women were moved to action following this and other senseless murders.  A march for the murdered and missing women was organized and continues to take place decades later every Valentine’s Day.  “Their Spirits Live Within Us”: 21st Annual Women’s Memorial March for Murdered and Missing Women, organized and led by women, honours the lives of missing and murdered women.

Please join and help to spread the word about the Women’s Memorial March, taking place on February 14, 2012. This is an opportunity to come together to grieve the loss of our beloved sisters, dedicate ourselves to justice, and to express compassion, community and caring for all women. The February 14th March stands in unity with other cities as it continues to grow until violence against women ends.
