CASSA and CLC Celebrate May Day and South Asian Heritage Month

The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA), in partnership with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), is hosting a joint celebration of the May Day and South Asian Heritage Month on Wednesday, May 6, 2009

in North York, Ontario. This event is both a celebration of labour activism within South Asian Communities and a dialogue about current struggles for workers rights, particularly workers from marginalized communities.

The celebration of May Day has a long standing tradition of recognizing and commemorating the efforts and achievements of workers and the labour movement. The celebration aims to highlight the collective accomplishments and progress made by labour activists as well as creating awareness about the issues surrounding workers rights today.
