The Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) Political Action Committee would like to remind all TWU members in the Delta-Ladner area of the upcoming byelection
, taking place on September 18, 2010. Voter turnout in municipal elections has historically been very low and every vote counts.
The New Westminster & District Labour Council (NWDLC), a community-based central labour organization which many TWU Locals are affiliated with, has been endorsing Labour friendly candidates for many years. For those who don’t have the time to investigate all the candidates and their positions, the NWDLC takes the time to evaluate candidates and make recommendations.
The NWDLC has endorsed Sylvia Bishop. Sylvia is concerned about the quality of life in Delta, transportation issues and protecting Burns Bog among other things. Many dedicated supporters have been working actively on Sylvia Bishop’s campaign because it is important to have Labour friendly candidates represented at all levels of government. Please help us get Sylvia elected by voting this Saturday.
For more information on Sylvia Bishop, please view her webpage at http://www.electsylviabishop.com
Delta has a bylaw establishing Voting Divisions and you are required to vote in the division in which you live. The locations of the 25 voting Divisions are available on Delta’s interactive mapping site, DeltaMap which can be found at the link below.
