Fifth Annual 12th Street Clean-up Event – June 20th
Posted 2009-Jun-15

The Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) would like to invite all members to attend the fifth Annual 12th Street Clean–up Event.

New Democratic Party (NDP) MP Peter Julian and NDP MLA Dawn Black will be hosting this year’s event, this Saturday June 20th at 10 a.m. People are asked to meet at 1170 8th Ave., New Westminster.

Peter Julian, Member of Parliament for Burnaby-New Westminster, has always been a strong supporter of TWU initiatives, speaking at many of our rallies and assisting in making our voice heard in Ottawa.  He joined us in launching the National Unemployment Clock on Parliament Hill on May 6th.  Former NDP MP and current MLA Dawn Black is the NDP Critic for Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.  As she did in Parliament, the TWU is confident that she will continue to bring up issues in the Legislature that are important to working people throughout the province of B.C.

A BBQ Lunch will be served at noon, courtesy of the New Westminster firefighters.  Come out and show your support for Peter and Dawn, who will also be joined by members of the TWU Executive Council for a day that is sure to be fun for all! (Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.)
