The United Nations estimates that more than 21 million people are injured or homeless as a result of the flooding in Pakistan, caused by heavy monsoon rains which began last July.

  The number of people affected exceeds the combined total of individuals affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

The Canadian Labour Congress, in cooperation with the Canadian Red Cross, is working to provide an easy way for union members to make a donation to help the victims and instantly receive a tax receipt.  The federal government will match individual donations until September 12, 2010.  We really want to maximize our donations and get the government to give as much as possible, so please donate now if you have not already.
