NDP Leadership Debate on Jobs, the Economy and Workers’ Rights – April 7
Posted 2011-Mar-31

The Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) Political Action Committee would like to invite all members to an NDP Leadership debate on jobs, the economy and workers’ rights on Thursday, April 7, 2011, hosted by the B.C. Federation of Labour.  The race for leader of the B.C. NDP is coming down to the wire with B.C. NDP members voting on April 17, 2011, for the next new leader and Leader of the Opposition.  If you have not yet had a chance to hear all the candidates in a debate, this will be one of your last chances.  This debate will allow workers to hear from candidates first-hand about their policies on jobs, the economy and workers’ rights.

Date:    Thursday, April 7, 2011
Time:    6 p.m. (Doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
Place: Metrotown Hilton, located at 6083 McKay Avenue, Burnaby, BC

The debate will begin with brief opening statements from each of the Leadership Candidates, followed by questions to be posed by the Moderator(s) and developed by the B.C. Federation of Labour Officers.

A portion of the debate will take questions submitted by those in attendance.  Question forms will be available at the registration table as participants enter the debate, and will be accepted until five minutes before the scheduled starting time.  These questions will be vetted for the purpose of avoiding duplicate questions and to ensure there are questions on a broad range of issues related to workers’ rights, jobs and the economy.

Each candidate will have an equal amount of time to respond to each question.  At the conclusion of the questions, each candidate will make a brief closing statement.  You are invited to stay after the formal part of the program to meet the candidates.

This event is open to all union and non-union workers, and the public.  Please join us and make your voice heard.
