It has been brought to the Telecommunications Workers Union's attention that the 'start date' on several Voluntary Separation Package (VSP) letters may not match the start date with employees' Record of Employment (ROE).

Please be sure to double-check that both dates correspond. If they do not, please advise HR at TELUS.

This information is vey important as there is new legislation that will allow long-tenured workers who have lost their job due to the global recession, and may be entitled to receive additional support through the federal government's Economic Action Plan. The federal government introduced two new Employment Insurance (EI) initiatives on May 25, 2009; The Extended Employment Insurance and Training Incentive (EEITI) and the Severance Investment in Training Initiative (SITI).
