Nominations for Observers to the 2nd World Congress of the ITUC
Posted 2010-Feb-22

The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) will be hosting the 2nd World Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) from June 21-25, 2010, in Vancouver, B.C.

About 1,000 trade union delegates throughout the world will be meeting to discuss the ITUC policy directions for the next four years.

The CLC is able to nominate up to 300 observers who will be invited to sit in on most of the formal meetings during the week, plus attend any of the planned reception and additional activities. All Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) members who are interested in attending as observers should download a copy of the nomination form at http://www.twu-stt.ca/sites/default/files/CLCObserverE.pdf and fax it as soon as possible to the attention of Susan Heckbert (Fax: 613-521-4655, Tel: 613-521-3400).  Please note that TWU members who are interested in attending as observers must do so at their own expense and personal time. The Union will not cover any costs related to this event.

The ITUC Congress will not only debate a series of resolutions, but also elect new executive officers and representatives to sit on the ITUC’s General Council.  There will be a series of pre-Congress meetings, starting from June 19, 2010. A full agenda and information on the program of activities will be available on the ITUC website some time in February (www.ituc-csi.org).
