The Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) Political Action Committee is urging TWU members to continue their efforts in lobbying the Government to double the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) benefits in the future so that Canadians will be able to enjoy a more secure retirement.
The campaign to improve retirement security for all Canadians has been gaining momentum. This is not the time to sit back and relax if we want to see these changes happen. The next Finance Ministers’ meeting on the issue of pension reform will take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, on December 20, 2010. The December meeting is a continuation of the meeting in PEI this past June which was pivotal in shifting the national debate on pension reform.
For members who live in Ontario, your help is needed. Ontario's Finance Minister, Dwight Duncan, is holding online consultations on what Ontarians think about the many proposals to secure their retirement future. Please participate in the online consultation by sending a message of support for the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) campaign to double future CPP benefits to Dwight Duncan at pension.feedback@ontario.ca.
