Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU)/Telus members who have letters of discipline or warnings on their personnel file have a right to ask that this information be removed from their file two years (or five years)
following the date of the incident. It is very important that TWU members exercise this right. Failing to do so might have consequences should further disciplinary action be taken.
The TWU-Telus Collective Agreement (CA), Article 10.03 stipulates:
Upon request from an employee, letters confirming disciplinary action of a written warning, or suspension of five (5) days or less, shall be removed from the employee’s file two (2) years after the date of the incident provided there are no incidents of a similar nature within that two year period. Upon request from an employee, all other letters confirming disciplinary action shall be removed from the employee’s file five (5) years after the incident provided there are no incidents of a similar nature within that five year period.
