TELUS is presently contacting retirees who are trained in Installation and Repair (I&R) to return to work as temporary employees.

As defined by the Collective Agreement, temporary employees are eligible to be members of the TWU, are required to pay Union dues, and are covered by the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement. I&R workers wishing to return must be retired and not have accepted a Voluntary Departure Incentive Plan (VDIP). TELUS claims this move will help to reduce the backlog of orders caused by the growth and demand for satellite TV.
