The National Health and Safety Committee encourages Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) members who are on workplace Health and Safety committees, or TWU Health and Safety Representatives in areas where there are no committees established, to participate in online training sessions.
The following training modules are designed to supplement committee training offered by the employer. Each course takes approximately one to two hours to complete and can be completed over several sessions, if required.
Accident Investigation
A practical approach to investigating workplace accidents with an emphasis on how to find the root cause and prevent similar occurrences from happening again.
Violence in the Workplace: Recognize the Risk and Take Action
Develop a clear understanding of what workplace violence is, and the consequences of workplace violence and find out what preventative measures can be taken.
In addition to the two courses mentioned above, the following is also available to TWU committee members who work for employers other than TELUS (such as Shaw, Stratcom, etc.)
Office Ergonomics
A practical introduction to office ergonomics, focusing on problems and injuries related to the use of computers and other office equipment.
Course fees will be paid for by the Committee, but each module must be completed using a home computer on the member’s own time. Participants will be added to the course list until 25 members sign up, at which time course information will be communicated to participants.
To sign up for any of the above courses, please contact the following members of the National Health and Safety Committee with your course selection:
